Our Story

1984 was the year that a young Canadian entrepreneur named Chris Herrington arrived in Los Angeles, took a job waiting tables at The Cheesecake Factory Restaurant in Marina del Rey, and created the path that would set the course for his future.

Looking beyond his work as a waiter, Chris created t-shirts for the staff featuring The Cheesecake Factory logo. Restaurant patrons soon took notice and the shirts were made available for purchase as souvenirs.

It was a simple request from a co-worker that led Chris Herrington into the teddy bear business in 1985.

A female employee working in the bakery had been given a teddy bear by a customer. She asked Chris to create a custom Cheesecake Factory t-shirt that would fit her teddy bear with the idea of displaying it as a mascot. He was very pleased to be able to fulfill this pretty young blonde’s request, and it opened the door for a future visit to the bakery to follow up on his collaboration with her. It was then that she uttered the words that would change Chris’ life forever, “Everyone wants to buy the teddy bear!”

Martin Herrington, following his brother’s path from Canada, added his keen business sense to Chris’ passionate creative drive to create The Herrington Teddy Bear Company.

Cornerstone partners like The Cheesecake Factory and Hard Rock Cafe have helped the Herrington brothers build the company’s unique signature: The art of building brands through company partnerships.

Herrington Teddy Bears have not only proven to be sought after collectibles and icons, but a powerful brand asset for companies looking to deepen their customer relationships.

Signature Teddy Bears from HTB are available in over 100 cities throughout 50 countries around the world.
